This section of the MSAPT website is devoted to parents and caregivers who may be interested in Play Therapy. If you haven't already, please visit What is Play Therapy? Play Therapy is often helpful with children experiencing a wide variety of social, emotional, behavioral, and learning problems. Choosing a Play Therapist for your child should be done with care. Only a Registered Play Therapist, or a therapist being supervised by a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor have met the educational requirements and prerequisites necessary to provide Play Therapy. Providing Play Therapy is much more than allowing a child to play with toys in a therapeutic environment. It requires hours of training and experience. A link is provided below for you to search for a Registered Play Therapist in your area. Please note that many professionals are members of the Association for Play Therapy, but only Registered Play Therapists will have the RPT or RPT-S credential listed as part of their profile. Please contact MSAPT if you are having problems locating a Registered Play Therapist in your area.
